Celtics Jump Heat Finals Odds Despite Deficit | News Article by handicapper911.com

The Boston Celtics are on the brink of making NBA history if they can win the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat and becoming the first team in NBA history to erase an 0-3 deficit.

Teams that go down 3-0 in a series in NBA history have gone 0-149.

However, following the Miami Heat’s 3-0 start to the conference finals, they have given up two games and now sit with a 3-2 lead heading into game 6 where the Celtics are favored by 2.5 points despite the game being played in Miami.

The overall odds to win the NBA Championship have also taken a major shift with Boston coming up to 275 and Miami sliding back to 450.

Before the Celtics game 5 win, they had 450 odds while Miami was at 360.

Strangely enough though, Miami still holds a grip on the series price odds despite their finals odds flopping. The Heat now have -145 odds to win the series compared to the 125 odds that the Celtics have.

There are trends though that support Miami closing out the series in game 6 and moving on to the finals. In the last three games five Eastern Conference Finals games between the Heat and Celtics, Miami has lost.

However, they have come back to win their last two Game 6 scenarios with Jimmy Butler leading the way at 22 and 47 points.

Butler has been on an offensive tear throughout the postseason averaging 37.6 points in the first round, 24.6 points in the second round, and is currently averaging 24.2 points in the conference finals.

If that trend holds up, we could very well see Butler go for 40 points as he empties the tank to close out the Celtics.

The keys for the Celtic to win though would be for both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum to show up in the fourth quarter.

In the first three games of the series, neither of them had put up any points in the final quarter of any of those games which led to Miami coming out with all three wins.

As they begin to come out now, the public splits are all in favor of the Heat closing out the series and moving on to the NBA Finals. They are seeing 52% of bets on the spread and 69% of bets on their 125 moneyline odds.

It is also worth noting that the 210-point total is the lowest of the series.
