The Phoenix Suns will leave the desert to face the Denver Nuggets on Christmas Day.
The Suns are in fourth place in the Western Conference at 19-14. However, they could lose sole control of that spot with a loss.
On the other side, the Nuggets are having an excellent season and tied for first place in the Western Conference with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The Suns are coming off a 125-100 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. However, the Suns were without Devin Booker, so this loss is not all too surprising. Phoenix looked lost out there and was down by 19 at the end of the first quarter.
The lead did not grow too much from that point, but the Suns never mounted any semblance of a comeback. No Sun had a particularly impressive game. Deandre Ayton had 18 points and five rebounds, but that was the best Suns’ statline.
The Nuggets are coming off a 120-107 lead to the Portland Trail Blazers. The Nuggets were down by four at halftime but outscored the Trail Blazers 35-16 in the third quarter. Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray each had excellent games. Jokic had 29 points, 11 assists, eight rebounds, and two steals, and Murray had 25 points, 12 assists, eight rebounds, and two steals.
The Nuggets simply outshot the Trail Blazers and made an absurd 58% of their shots.
This game will be a close one. It has been announced that Devin Booker will play, so the Suns have a chance. However, I would still bet on the Nuggets. Denver is playing better basketball and Nikola Jokic is having another season for the ages. The center is averaging 24.9 points, 10.9 rebounds, 9.2 assists, and 1.5 steals a game.
As long as he and Jamal Murray are healthy, the Nuggets will be a threat to any team.
Phoenix is facing a Nuggets squad that is 11-3 at home and has won six of their last seven games. Denver is the better team, especially when they are playing at home. Bet on the Nuggets.
My Prediction: Nuggets 121, Suns 117
