The Iowa Hawkeyes take on the Wisconsin Badgers this Saturday as part of NCAA football’s infamous rivalry weekend.
While this will be drummed up as a rivalry with the likes of Florida-Georgia, Michigan-Michigan State, and Penn State-Ohio, this game won’t be nearly as competitive or interesting as the others listed.
Wisconsin has been a disappointment all year and that’s likely to continue after this Halloween weekend. A normally reliable Badgers defense has faltered against the strength of elite teams, and their usually uninspiring offense continues to struggle this season as well.
The Badgers were ran off the field by both Notre Dame and Michigan in blowout defeats.
The Hawkeyes on the other hand, have been off to a very impressive start — aside from a disappointing loss against Purdue last week. Before that stinker, though, they racked up a couple of impressive wins against Penn State and Iowa State, leading to their current ninth overall ranking in the AP Top 25.
Game Line: Wisconsin -3.5-110 o/u 36.5-110

Obviously, the bookies aren’t giving Iowa the respect that the AP has weekly. The Badgers are at home here, which definitely can play a role, especially in a conference rivalry game.
That being said, Wisconsin has already been shellacked in Camp Randall Stadium twice. Once by Notre Dame and then again by Michigan the week after.
The bookmakers are putting too much stock into the fact that the Badgers were able to blow out the Purdue Boilers, the same team that upset the Hawkeyes in their last game.
With the odds compilers giving points to Iowa, who have been the better team overall all season long, the decision here is easy.
Iowa has a solid defense. While the Badgers offense is a little questionable, they’ll still be the best unit on that side of the line of scrimmage that the Hawkeyes have faced thus far.
Wisconsin’s defense has let them down numerous times throughout the season, leading to their disappointing start so far.
In this matchup, both teams should score easily and get the score close to that o/u total posted across the country.
All in all, I’d expect the Badgers to keep it close for the majority of the game, but their defense is still questionable.
Michigan State cornerback transfer Kalon Gervin explained his decision to transfer to #Wisconsin.
“It’s a great defense. If you wanna go somewhere and be successful, what other place is better than Wisconsin? It speaks for itself.”https://t.co/r7tikjDK8O (VIP) #Badgers pic.twitter.com/uVHMh2Qq0B
