Can the Los Angeles Lakers role players step it up and turn LA into a real contender? | News Article by handicapper911.com

The PGA Tour heads to New Orleans and changes the format to two-man teams. The PGA tour doesn’t mix up the format often, but when they do it is usually fun. This tournament showcases best-ball on Thursday and Saturday, and on Friday and Sunday, they alternate shots. This could lead to some serious chaos and a whole lot of fun.

Defending champions Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay ( 400) are coming into the tournament as the favorite again. They are the lowest-total-ranked group and Cantlay is playing fantastic golf recently. He is not without controversy though, as he is the center for slow play problems on the tour. He has been involved in some wildly slow play moments in the last couple of weeks.

In fact, the final round at Harbor Town at the RBC Heritage took an insane 5:13 minutes despite playing with the incredibly fast Matthew Fitzpatrick, who won the tournament.
Another favorite to win this event is Max Homa and Collin Morikawa ( 850).

The former Cal Berkley Bears will be teaming up to try to take down the team of Cantlay and Schauffele. The third-best team represented is Billy Horschel and Sam Burns ( 2000).

Horschel is a veteran and has won on this golf course twice, and his partner, Sam Burns, has been in contention his past few tournaments, including a title at the Match-Play championship a few weeks ago.

The most important thing to follow through the first two days at TPC Louisiana is how the scoring works – and who will make an early move. Each two-man team will start by playing best ball Thursday, often leading to the lowest scores of the week. For Friday’s second round, the teams will revert to Foursomes alternate shot. After the cut is made – only 33 teams and ties find the weekend – they will play Four-ball again before the Sunday drama unfolds with Foursomes.

TPC Louisiana, par 72, 7,425 yards. Steve Elkington and Kelly Gibson served as design consultants for this Pete Dye design, which stretches over 250 acres of wetlands and features 100 bunkers.

Located just 15 minutes from downtown New Orleans, water hazards are featured prominently on the course but it’s one of the TOUR’s most scoreable layouts.

If you’re looking to make a splash, the team of Horschel and Burns gives you some great odds for a guy with success here and a guy playing great golf. Also, defending RBC Champion Matthew Fitzpatrick is teaming up with his brother Alex Fitzpatrick ( 2200) could be a fun shot to take.
