As the March Madness season approaches, the National Championship is wide open with several teams in the running to win and the odds boards clearly show that.
As they currently sit, the Houston Cougars are leading the charge with 650 and are followed by the Kansas Jayhawks, Alabama Crimson Tide, Purdue Boilermakers, and UCLA Bruins. All of them have under 1000 odds to win the championship.
Houston leads the way and rightfully so. They are the current number one ranked team in the country and have been a top-3 ranked team since week 6 of the season.
Three of those weeks coming in as the top ranked team as well. They also lead the country in winning margin with a 20.2 margin on average. The Cougars also have 125 odds to make the Final Four and -350 odds to win the American Conference title.
The Kansas Jayhawks are right on Houston’s tail with 800 odds to win the title. They haven’t fallen outside of the top 10 all year.
They average an 8.1 winning margin and have won nine of their last ten games and are favored to win their last game of the season against the Texas Longhorns.
The Jayhawks have 150 odds to make the Final Four.

Alabama, Purdue, and UCLA are each knotted up at 900 odds to win the National title. Alabama though has the advantage of all three with 185 odds to make it to the Final Four while Purdue has 200 odds and UCLA sits with 270 odds.
All three teams though have made it to March Madness in each of the last two seasons. Both Alabama and Purdue have failed to make it past the regional semifinal while UCLA made it the furthest of the three having gone made it all the way to the Final Four as an 11 seed in the tournament.
There are cases to make though to back each of their odds. The Crimson Tide opened and have remained ranked inside the top-25 all season and were even ranked as the number one team for the first time since the 2002-2003 season.
Purdue has also been ranked the number one team in the country making it the second year in a row that they have claimed that top spot. UCLA has not disappointed either having opened and remained in the top 10 since the start of the season with their highest coming in as the fourth-ranked team in the country.
