March Madness, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, captivates fans annually with its thrilling games and unpredictable outcomes.

Team Selection Process:

The tournament features 68 teams, chosen through a combination of automatic bids and at-large selections. Thirty-two teams earn automatic bids by winning their respective conference championships.

The remaining 36 at-large bids are awarded by the NCAA Selection Committee based on factors such as NET rankings, strength of schedule, and quality wins. The selection process culminates on “Selection Sunday,” when the full bracket is revealed.

Tournament Structure:

The tournament consists of seven rounds:

  • First Four: Four games featuring the lowest-seeded automatic qualifiers and at-large teams compete to complete the 64-team bracket.
  • First Round: 64 teams compete in single-elimination games.
  • Second Round: Winners from the first round face off.
  • Sweet Sixteen: The remaining 16 teams compete.
  • Elite Eight: Winners from the Sweet Sixteen advance.
  • Final Four: The last four teams standing.
  • National Championship: The two Final Four winners compete for the title.
